The Perry County School District in the Alabama Black Belt, has a student poverty rate of 43.5 percent and lost $148,600 to number weighting in school year 2008-09. Cherokee County Public Schools in suburban Atlanta has a 7.5 percent student poverty rate and gained $221,400 due to number weighting that year.
